Three Questions with Steve Dewis of Momentm

This year, Momentm has committed to the continued growth of our Medical team. We sat down with Steve Dewis, General Manager of Momentm, to discuss our non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) segment. Let’s rapid-fire three questions and answers:

Question 1: What are some of the key challenges and opportunities that you’ve experienced in the NEMT segment?

Steve Dewis: NEMT has seen some of the biggest market challenges. It’s a very fluid and immature industry, thanks to new legislative changes that are altering how people deliver NEMT services. New providers are constantly popping up – they are winning state or regional NEMT contracts, then losing them once the contract ends. Who is doing the work is constantly shifting, making it hard for vendors and providers alike.

Another challenge is the aging population and the increasing amount of seniors who need transportation to and from medical appointments, which is quickly increasing healthcare costs.

As for opportunities in the medical segment, if you can take advantage of this uncertainty by becoming a thought leader who can provide an efficient solution to control costs, you can help lead the way for NEMT providers and brokers. Momentm leads the way as a provider of automated NEMT software.

Question 2: What makes Momentm different from other NEMT software providers?

Steve Dewis: Most software providers take existing products and staff from other industries, and attempt to shoehorn them to fit NEMT. This approach is both inefficient and inadequate to meet the complex requirements of Medicaid and NEMT providers.

Momentm is uniquely focused on NEMT, with dedicated teams for sales, deployment, customer care and development. This allows us to tailor our products and services to what matters most to the industry.

We focus on strong client relationships. Our leadership team regularly visits clients to forge partnerships, and get feedback and input into our product strategy. Some of our senior staff have worked in the NEMT industry for decades and speak regularly at conferences with key NEMT executives.

Question 3: What is the impact of our software on NEMT riders?

Steve Dewis: The social good of non-emergency medical transportation is huge. There are millions of people in the US who are low income, seniors or people with disabilities who can’t afford to get to their medical appointments. Our NEMT software enables companies to get these people to their appointments, directly improving and impacting people’s health outcomes and quality of life.
